Day 20: Short Story Marathon

Summary

Had a tough time getting going this morning with writing. While I like “Jump in Time” a lot, it took a lot of energy and I didn’t get enough rest over the weekend. This is a pacing issue. I’m going to shoot for short for a few days to try to recover.

After looking at my challenge board (tracking these stories and universes I’m writing in) I started up on a new story in the universe of Shuffled Off. This is my ghost world and it has a scifi conceit where ghosts can type their own stories. So, I took a shot at writing something short. It’s called “Death by Vodka” and comes in at 2,100 words. Read it to Aleia and it will be off tomorrow. This is a rich world for me, so doing a few more “Death by” stories could be fun and lighten the load a bit. I noodled on a second idea for one of these this evening (not on the list yet).

I spent a little time with “Jump in Time,” adding a couple of touches that occurred to me overnight and sent it off to Dean. The streak is up to 11 stories in the last 11 days. Barely made it with this one because of it’s length. But it’s story #15, so half way there!

Stats for Today

Strategies Employed:  Writing in a world I know well.

Lessons Learned: Pace is important. While I love the streak, I have to keep my pace doable or let go of the streak. Can’t do both

Words Written: 2,500

Hours: 2.9

Stories Sent to Dean: 1
