A Long Hard Fall

If you haven’t heard about this series yet, Walter Anchor is a ghost detective. He’s from the same graveyard as JJ Lynch and the ghosts in Shuffled Off and the rest of the books in that series. In fact, he and his sidekick Emily have a cameo in the 2nd book in that series, Of Things Not Seen.

I love these stories. Walter was a struggling actor, and then a dentist, and now he’s a ghost trying to solve his own murder. Except the case has gone cold so he’s practicing by solving other murders.

So take a crime procedure drama, cross it with a first-person ghost story, add a dash of noir, and you have Walter Anchor, Ghost Detective.

Today the third story, A Long Hard Fall is out. It’s the shortest of them (about 50 pages in print) and is stand alone and a great way to dip your toe in if your are curious. The ebook is on sale for $0.99 in the US for the rest of the month and a print edition will be along in a couple of days.

There will be new episodes out in May, July, and September with an omnibus in October. Stay tuned.

Here’s the blurb:

Walter Anchor spends his afterlife solving murders in the hope of one day getting good enough to solve the toughest murder of all. His own.

But when his partner and best ghost-friend Emily finds a body on top of a skyscraper killed by a long, hard fall, it leads to more clues and more suspects than the two of them can handle. It will take a team of ghosts working together with the Tucson police department to solve a murder this bizarre.

From the author of Shuffled Off: A Ghost’s Memoir comes a murder mystery unlike anything seen before.
