Welcome to Cave Creek, Nevada, a small town about an hour from Las Vegas where all kinds of strange things happen. Cave Creek, created by best selling author Dean Wesley Smith is a place “Where the Unexpected Meets the Real World.” It’s also a “shared world” meaning multiple authors are writing stories in this world, not just Dean. And I’m happy to say that I am one of those authors.
I won’t say too much more about Cave Creek and it’s secrets, just grab one of the books and check it out.
When Dean first talked about the idea of Cave Creek, he said it would be similar to The Twilight Zone (the orginal version), Well, I was hooked. As I kid I could watch episode after episode of that show. Short, strange, and often ironic. Although the terms wouldn’t have meant anything to me then, the show was an anthology series, and each episode was, essentially, a stand-alone short story. Hmmm… maybe there’s something there that got my developing brain thinking about stories.
My story “The Room of Possibilities” appears in Bitter Mountain Moonlight and is my take on a Twilight Zone style story based in the very strange town of Cave Creek. When you read the opening and the closing, just imagine Rod Serling doing the voice over and you’ll totally get the vibe.
